Every year as the injuries pile up teams find a gem buried on their roster. We’ve seen flashes from some of the guys mentioned below already this year. More than likely most of them are available on your waiver wire. We profile eight guys that have little fantasy relevance right now but may have an opportunity to shine and save your fantasy season.

Brandon Jacobs- He is not in any way shape or form a fantasy stud, but the Giants have a prolific offense. They move the ball up and down the field with ease, and lately Jacobs has been capitalizing on it. He has scored touchdowns in each of the last three weeks and has been ticking off Ahmad Bradshaw owners.

Chris Ivory- Word is even if Pierre Thomas returns, Ivory has played his way into a complimentary role with Thomas. Will have to see if Thomas can stay away from the injury bug and how this plays out overall. With the amount of throws Drew Brees has per game, the Saints crowded backfield could be detrimental for any type of reliable fantasy numbers.

Derrick Ward- Steve Slaton is completely out of the picture with the Texans. It’s astonishing to see that with the way his rookie season went. Ward has solidified the backup role and has done a swell job. If you’re an Arian Foster owner make sure you take note. Handcuffing Foster with Ward is a must.

Mike Hart- Colts are on a bye week with a plethora of injury issues. At running back Joseph Addai has been dinged up continuously this year, and Donald Brown’s had a tough go with a hamstring injury. Hart’s scored a touchdown this year and might have to start a few games for the Colts.

Danny Woodhead- An emergency filler for fantasy teams. Woodhead is filling Kevin Faulk’s old role and may keep it. New England loves to throw the short dink and dump throws to all their players. Woodhead keeps getting involved more and more each week and is becoming a main threat for the Patriots. He poses a mismatch for opposing linebackers. With all the Patriots receivers running short routes it’s too difficult for teams to shackle everyone.

James Starks- Jackson has done little with his starting role and the Packers need someone to alleviate the pressure off of Aaron Rodgers. Starks just came off the PUP list and will likely not be used for a week or so. Remember Starks had a second round grade by NFL scouts before sustaining an MCL injury his senior year.

Javon Ringer- We’ve talked about the worries of Chris Johnson in previous articles. He is roughly 200 pounds and has been getting pounded thus far. Teams are stacking the box with eight or nine guys and laying tough licks on him. It’s just bound to happen that Ringer either gets more involved, or Johnson gets hurt.

LeGarrette Blount- Blount was inactive this past week but that should not happen again. Kareem Huggins was lost for the season, and the Buccaneers have been awful running the ball. They may split carries all around for a few weeks, but Blount should separate himself to be the number one guy. Going into the off-season he will be their clear cut fantasy starter.

Joe Lopat, Zack Cimini, and Jabbar Harris return once again to talk football hot topics, as well as their usual fantasy football segments. They’ll tell you who to start/sit and provide spread picks for week seven.

Week Four Spread Picks

We had another week of above .500 selections going 9-7. There were a few games that went awry in the fourth quarter for us, or it could have been a fabulous week. With four bye week teams over the next few months, Sundays selection of games dwindles down from sixteen to fourteen. This weeks games feature a lot of tough spreads. Take a look at who were rolling with for winners.

Last Weeks Record: 9-7
Overall Record: 25-21-2

Tennessee -6.5- Broncos lost a tough one this past week. Tennessee hasn’t looked well at all and are winning games. They’ll shake off their rust and get things going with a big win.

Pittsburgh -1- With Ray Rice likely out or limited the Steelers will force the Ravens to beat them through the air. Flacco is going to make some big plays but will neutralize that with his mistakes.

Cleveland +3- Carson Palmer talks will finally begin after this one. How discussion hasn’t is beyond me.

Green Bay -14.5- Packers will blow out the Lions and get a dominant bounce back win.

New Orleans-13.5- The media has been on the Saints more than ever. They have not been clicking in their usual patented rhythm. Nothing like a Carolina matchup to settle that talk.

San Francisco +6.5- Were sensing a first half bad start by the Falcons. They’re coming off an emotional overtime win against the former Super Bowl champs. Facing an 0-3 team that has their backs against the wall. San Francisco jumps out early and possibly pulls out the win.

St. Louis -1- Not even a game to think about putting money on. We’ll take the home team.

NY Jets -5- Look for Shonn Greene to official start his season.

San Diego -8- The Cardinals have done a complete 360 in the wrong way as an organization. Last week should have been a demoralizing loss at home. The defense let the Raiders march up and down the field with ease. Philip Rivers is going to have a field day in this one.

Indianapolis -7- This is the type of road blowout win that gets the front office in a frenzy. They’ll look at making some decision making changes in their front office and on the field.

Oakland +3- The Raiders handed the Cardinals a win last week. Gradkowski starting was the right decision by Tom Cable. He is moving the offense with ease. They just need to capitalize and take advantage of red zone trips.

Washington +5.5- Just envision this game coming down to the fourth quarter and a last minute game winning field goal.

New York Giants -4- The Giants offensively have played about as bad as they possibly can. Without the turnovers we’d be talking about them in a totally different light. Things have to finally calm down for them on a turnover basis.

New England -1- Miami’s pass defense was exposed by Mark Sanchez. Brady is counting down the time before this game starts. He has two new options emerging at tight end and the same force at receiver. Big day for the Patriots offense.

Waiver Wire: Week One

Here’s a look at some athletes that stocks have shot up after week one. Should you make some roster moves already, why not? Wednesdays are always interesting to see the shake up in leagues.

Michael Vick- He’ll likely get the start week two. Going forward all depends on how he handles this actual start. One half of great play looks fantastic, but now Vick will have to do that for an entire game. Detroit’s defense is not the same gimmick and easily to thrash. Vick will have to protect the football on some of his runs or a Kolb type hit could force him out.

Derek Anderson- His week one performance was a tad bit rough. He’ll probably still go unclaimed in a lot of leagues. This game he did not have Beanie Wells and was working with Larry Fitzgerald who was only at 70 percent. The upside is there if he can get his accuracy under control. If your looking for a backup with some upside scoop him up.

Brandon Jackson- With Ryan Grant’s season done here is your first running back to get full duties due to an injury. He had a tough time week one against Philadelphia but opportunities will not be reduced. He’ll get twenty touches a game which sparks the interest of any fantasy owner. Just hope that you’re number one on the waiver wire priority thanks to starting Michael Turner, Frank Gore, or another plethora of busts week one.

Ahmad Bradshaw- It’s getting to the point that Bradshaw will get the bulk of the carries over Brandon Jacobs. He did week one totaling 20 to Jacobs 12. We think that trend will continue as Jacobs is proving ineffective as an every down runner. Bradshaw has shown the burst and explosiveness that could turn him from a dark sleeper to a reliable starter. He did have two fumbles which he’ll have to corral quickly from happening again.

Arian Foster- He should have been drafted in your leagues but for those that were in idiotic leagues here you go. Foster had a start that franchise owners just love. It’ll probably end up being his best game of the season, but we all know Houston is going to score points. With Foster demonstrating a knack to get in the end zone, double digit production is easily reachable.

Eddie Royal- Royal had a bust of a season last year. He looks like he rededicated himself in the off-season and is ready to take on his new lead receiving role. Orton likes to lock in on his number one receivers and Royal catching eight passes is pretty impressive. In years past any good performances by Royal would usually happen with minimal catches from long pass plays. Totaling eight makes us actually believe in Royal.

Austin Collie- We all knew the Colts had a sure set of receivers that would be fantasy friendly, but we didn’t think it’d stretch down to their fourth starter. Collie proved to be Manning’s main target Sunday as he was able to free himself consistently. That type of performance will put pressure on Gonzalez. Manning probably won’t have 57 pass attempts every game, but he’ll have enough big games to warrant Collie as a fantasy fifth or sixth receiver.

Legedu Naanee- He could still go unclaimed in leagues due to owners inability to spell his name. Implement a 7th grade spelling bee participant to figure this one out. Naanee had one busted up play that was half of his totals Monday night. With Jackson gone someone has to be Rivers other target besides Gates. It could rotate week to week between Naanee and Malcolm Floyd, but this week it’s Naanee.
